The UK’s temperature records have been smashed month after month this year. We’ve had days topping 35 degrees every month since May, and this summer is on track to be the hottest on record yet again.
And plenty of people feel exactly the same as you and me:
“Working all day in this heat… I’ve definitely earned a drink in the pub later.”
Just reading that might make you crave a cold pint. I’m writing this as the thermometer hits 35 degrees, and I can feel it too.
There’s nothing wrong with rewarding yourself after a scorching day at work — and here comes the but.
Go for a drink, maybe two
One or two drinks are fine. But don’t let the taste, the thirst, or the sense of reward take over. Drinking more than that in extreme heat is simply a bad idea.
Dehydration, accidents, feeling awful the next day, and a hit to your overall health and wellbeing are all far more likely when you drink heavily in high temperatures.
Easier Said Than Done
The chat is flowing, new people keep arriving, the sun is blazing, and you’re all gathered in the pub garden.
Heading home feels impossible.
You already know the alternatives: low‑ or no‑alcohol drinks, water, skipping a round. Easy to say, much harder to do.
Willpower in a Bottle
This is where the Drink Less Method has helped thousands. Using proven, prescription‑only medication, it gives you the power to say no to alcohol and yes to the soft options.
You can still go out and enjoy a couple of drinks — but the urge to keep going fades over time.
Enough from me. I’m off to the pub.
For one pint.
